The Last - Hopefully - of Durbin
He said (emphasis mine): "If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulag, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings. Sadly . . . this was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners."
On the radio the next morning he says:
Q. No regrets on the statements you made?
Durbin: No, I don't, and I'll tell you why. I went to the floor and read a memo from the FBI. This isn't something I made up.
Now he says: “I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support.”
Dick, just how stupid do you think we are? You go on a radio program in Chicago and defend your original comments. You defend your comments on the floor of the Senate. Harry Reid (any relation to Richard?) comes to your defense on the floor of the Senate. And now you have the unmitigated gall (it's a family site) to say it's all a misunderstanding. And, oh by the way, it's ME, it's US who misunderstood you!
Mr. Durbin, you are a disgusting human being. You make Michael Jackson and OJ look like pillars of the community. You will still have a following. Even Charles Manson still has a following. People still look up to Che and Castro. You will always be able to find people who are wilfully blind who will agree that you were just a misunderstood guy with a good heart. But we both know that deep down, where your heart should be, you know as I do that you are a dirt bag.
Please don't do anything else that merits comment. I have to take a shower now.
